Ag. DG lauds District Directors supporting the Communities of Excellence program.
The Acting Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah has commended education leaders facilitating the Communities of Excellence program.
Dr. Nkansah said this when he called on Management of Transforming Teaching, Education & Learning (T-TEL) on Wednesday November 2.
The visit, which forms part of familiarisation meetings with stakeholders and development partners of GES was aimed at receiving updates on ongoing programs implemented by the Ghana Education Service and facilitated by T-TEL.
T-TEL Executive Director, Robin Todd provided progress reports on various means T-TEL is supporting GES in enabling and strengthening Ghana’s education system. Again, Mr. Todd congratulated Dr. Nkansah on his appointment and expressed his excitement to continue working with GES under his leadership.
Dr. Nkansah further interacted with participants of the quarterly planning meeting of the Communities of Excellence program where they discussed updates on implementations made so far on the program. The quarterly planning meeting brought together District Directors of the three districts implementing the programme (Lambussie, Bosome Freho, Akuapem South), Learning and Transformation Agenda(LTA) implementation Team Members from the districts, Change leaders, District Assembly Reps, headteachers, T-TEL staff and Director for Schools and Instructions at GES, Madam Patty Assan.
The Acting Director-General commended the participants for the significant roles they were playing in the education space through the Communities of Excellence program.
“Communities of Excellence is an innovative grassroots program using the ‘Managing for Learning’ processes which can be implemented effectively and efficiently once understood by school management and leadership and I am particularly impressed to see education leaders especially District Directors of Education at this quarterly planning meeting.” he said.
The Communities of Excellence, a Ministry of Education initiative which uses the Managing for Learning approach to improve learning, is led by Ghana Education Service (GES), facilitated by Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) with funding from Jacobs Foundation.
Communities of Excellence is initially operating between February 2022 and April 2023 in Lambussie, Bosome Freho and Akuapem South districts.
