GES DG Leads His Staff In Tree Planting Exercise
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa led Directors of Education, staff and students, to plant over 100 fruity seedlings at the campus of Accra Girls’ SHS.
This was to commemorate the Green Ghana Campaign launched in May 2021 by the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo as an initiative targeted at bringing back the greenery environment in Ghana.
In his short address to the gathering, Director-General charged staff and students across the country to nurture the seedlings that have been planted to ensure that they will grow into useful greeny trees. He also urged staff and students to be ambassadors of ‘clean, healthy environment’.
In her welcome remarks, Mrs Gifty Andoh, the Headmistress of Accra Girls SHS, assured the DG and his entourage that a plan has been put in place to take good care of of the plants.
The Director-General and the Headmistress were full of praise to representatives of the Accra Girls Old Students Association for participating fully in the programme.
