The excitement is on at the Legon Sports Stadium, Accra, as the 35th Inter-Regional Basic Schools Sports Festival officially gets underway with all 16 regions of Ghana represented by their sporting teams, heads of sport and education officials.

The energy at the opening ceremony was unmistakable as each region arrived ready to compete, showcase and fight for sporting honours.

The ceremony was graced by Regional and District Directors of Education and other distinguished stakeholders. The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, was represented by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, who reaffirmed Government’s commitment to sports as an important tool for discipline, character development and national development.

The GES Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, was represented by the Deputy Director-General, Management Services, Prof. (Mrs.) Smile Gavua Dzisi. (GES)

The first match between Greater Accra and Western North officially kicked off after Prof. Dzisi performed the ceremonial kick, signalling the beginning of what promises to be an exciting festival.
