Director General Joins President Mahama to Launch the STEM Box Initiative for Basic Schools

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, joined H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, for the official launch of the STEM Box initiative for basic schools on Thursday, 4th December.

The event introduced the STEM Box as a new teaching toolkit designed to make science and technology learning more practical and engaging for pupils across the country.

In his remarks, Prof. Davis thanked the Government for introducing a programme that brings hands-on STEM activities directly into the classroom. He explained that the STEM Box is expected to spark curiosity, encourage creativity, and build the skills young learners need in a world that is increasingly shaped by robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital technology.

He also noted that GES will continue to support teachers with training and guidance to help them use the STEM Box effectively in their lessons. According to him, the nationwide rollout is an important step in helping children develop confidence in problem-solving and innovation.

GES extended its appreciation to all partners involved and called on school leaders, teachers, parents, and communities to give their full support as the initiative begins.

STEM in every classroom. A brighter future for every child.
