46,000 GES Teaching Staff Sat for Promotion Aptitude Test
A total of forty-six thousand two hundred and seventy-three (46,273) applicants to respective senior ranks in Service on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February, have successfully sat for the 2021 teaching staff promotion aptitude test at 49 examination centers spread across the country.
This is the second time the Service is conducting this test for its teaching staff since a decision was taken to move away from the then interviews held for promotion purposes. The multiplicity of complains and challenges that bedeviled the interview era necessitated the introduction of the aptitude test for qualified applicants.
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, monitored three Centers in the Greater Accra Region; the Accra College of Education, University of Cape Coast Study Centre, and the Ada College of Education. In an interview with media, he expressed his satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the test devoid of any examination malpractice or allegations of applicants having fore knowledge of test items. He commended the independent examination body for a good job done.
“Let me quickly wish my staff well and congratulate them for their exemplary conducts during the examination”.
“Indeed, you have led by example as teachers for your students to follow suit during their examinations”, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa said.
The Director General apologized to all applicants who couldn’t write the test as the system did not generate their index numbers to enable them sit for the paper. He assured such applicants that, a supplementary test will be organized for them within the shortest possible time.
“We have taken cognizance of this unfortunate situation and we will surely make it up to them within the shortest possible time”. “Once again, let me apologize for the inconvenience created. It was not deliberate”, he explained.
The Director, Human Resources Management and Development Division, Mrs. Adjoa Van Vicker, gave the breakdown of applicants for the respective aspiring grades as follows;
1. Deputy Director – 3,660
2. Assistant Director I – 8,188
3. Assistant Director II – 31,195
4. Principal Superintendent – 3,230
